It should be well into the dawn hour right now. The glow of pink, yellow and pale blue should be streaking from the east, painting the snowy mountains across the valley with the glow of sunrise.
But it’s NOT. Instead, in the middle of January, in Alaska … it’s pouring rain. Good grief.
As soon as I woke this morning, I heard the wind, and groaned. There has been so much wind this winter and I’m so tired of it.
As the darkness slowly retreated from the sky (couldn’t really call it getting light), and I could make out shapes, I saw the window panes in my bedroom had taken on the look of stained glass.
Rain was not so much hitting the windows as pouring down them. There was just enough light to make out the light cedar of my newer birdhouse and a hint of forest green from the little spruce tree sheltering it.
It was 10:00 am before there was enough light on this wet, dreary morning to get a blurry photo through the streaming glass.
It would’ve made a pretty stained glass painting.

I love your take on things, even when circumstances surrounding them are not the best! We’ve had cloudy days for the past 2-3 weeks here too, and are totally ready for sunshine. But it looks like it will be a while yet. So I can relate – but I love the “stained glass”! A bit of brightness in a dreary world right now! (The sun will shine again, I know.)
