Spinning … tales and yarns

To follow my regular blog posts, go to the menu at the top of the page and click on “De & the Dachsies – Follow Our Rambles”. That page has a listing of my blog posts, starting with the most recent. Enjoy!

Check out my blog entries for stories about how I come up with the inspiration for some of the nature-inspired yarns that I spin. Like this blended batt I simply call “Summer Sunshine”.

For now, here is a lovely yarn I finished spinning and plying while parked in my RV along the shore of Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska! See my blog from 11/23/19 for the back story.

Sunsets in Alaska can be spectacular – I named this yarn “Sky blue pink turning yellow in the moonlight”. Yes, there IS a story behind the name!

I had literally a waterfront campsite this trip. I set my spinning wheel up so that I could sit and spin while watching otters and seal lions playing in the surf outside my front window. It was spectacular!

When the weather is less obliging, my wheel is just as happy to spin along inside my motorhome. When I have the dinette-area slide out, there’s plenty of room.

I come up with some of my best ideas for new colorways for yarn while traveling and camping. Now you can see why! Feel free to comment and join me for more fun soon.

Ohhh … inspirations for a couple possible new colorways?
